Turbulent Mixing
CFD simulation of (thermal) mixing at T junction. Oscillating temperature distributions can cause premature failure of mechanical components, and is of great concern in the nuclear, and power generation industry as a whole. CFD simulations can provide estimates on the temperature oscillation frequency and amplitude for a range of conditions and configurations.
To the left is a short animation of iso-surfaces of selected Q-criterion values and the mid-plane which are colored by the fluid temperature. The solution was calculated using Ansys Fluent, and post processed with CFD Post.
